Overall, Ionie’s Caribbean Kitchen receives consistent commendation for delivering genuine Caribbean tastes paired with friendly service in a comfortable setting.
Some of the local Island food spots in the area are becoming complacent with their cooking. Quantity over quality. Ionie's food has a distinct flavor where you feel as if you're eating food made with a thoughtful approach. Down to the rice. The meat isn't cut out lazily where you're dealing with more bone than desired, the seasoning isn't isolated to just the gravy and the chicken is cooked just right to be soft and flavorful. With food prices going up, we want to feel as if we're getting something for the money. In my opinion, Ionie's delivers on that.
Ionie's is quite unique amongst the usual Jamaican restaurant offerings in that it has a maid dining room that can be filled for your birthday or anniversary or retirement or any other special occasion. And after you taste the spoon from this amazing kitchen you'll definitely want to plan to share it with your friends. Ionie's does an excellent job of all the staple dishes in Jamaican cuisine--jerk chicken, curry goat, stew chicken, ox tail, patties-- and the beans and rice are always top notch. But they also offer less common items: escovitch fish and a broad array of freshly-baked goods. The service is fast and capable, and, if you take the time to get to know them, friendly. This is one of the best restaurants I've been to stateside, and that's including having been to many spots in New York.
One of my new favorites for Caribbean food!! The food was delicious!!! The dining area was vibrantly decorated and true to the island feel. And I could see that it was a very popular place for carry out as well. Only thing I could slightly complain about, is the menu is so vast that it's a little hard to navigate. But I did ask questions and got answers and ordered some really tasty things...my favorite is the jerk chicken macNcheese
It was my first time visiting. There was a line, but it moved very quickly, almost too quickly - tried viewing the menu before placing an order. Nevertheless, I was greatly impressed with the flavor and temperature of the food. It was still warm when I arrived home. I look forward to the next visit.
We ordered catering for a repass event. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Coming from out of town and having never tried the food, I was a little nervous. But they met and exceeded expectations. We ordered curry goat, oxtail, jerk chicken, plaintain, vegetables, soup and rice and peas. The food was very good and we had none left. Thank you to all the staff that made this process seamless. Appreciate you all!
I’ve been coming here for 14 years. I can attest that this is the best Jamaican restaurant I’ve been to, and it’s affordable. You can get a dinner plate to eat in two sittings for 12. Many restaurants can’t beat the price. It does get busy here sometimes but it’s so worth it! Check it out Atlanta, this is my top recommendation for Jamaican/Caribbean cuisine in the Metro, Ionie’s Caribbean Kitchen!
Great food! The service is good but at times a bit chaotic. Make sure you don't approach the service line until you know what you want. It gets busy quickly, but the wait is short and well worth it.
I’m an international chef going to this restaurant for years and I must say you won’t get Jamaican food this authentic anywhere else in Atlanta. A known little gem, where good food comes alive! Love it, you won’t regret eating there, take my word for it! Love it...love it
